Charlie Ray Hill, 71, of Kingsland, died April 3, 2013. He was born to Charlie Henry and Lemma Maye [Fails] Hill on October 9, 1941 in San Antonio.
Mr. Hill was a "Native Son of San Antone. He fulfilled a lifelong dream when he and his wife Rose made the Kingsland-Lake LBJ area their home for 23 years. Charlie’s vocation was his vacation. He served as food service director at Camp Buckner and Buckner Boys Ranch. There he served tens of thousands of youths in a Christian environment. The friendships he enjoyed and treasured there made those years the most rewarding ones of his life.
Charlie was a Christian and member of the Hill Country Fellowship Church in Burnet. His church family and especially Pastor Rodney and wife Rosemary were so very special in Charlie’s life. Charlie lived by "The Cowboy Code”: Live each day with courage, Take pride in your work, Always finish what you start, Do what has to be done, Be tough but fair, Talk less and say more, Some things are not for sale, Know where to draw the line and You ride for the Brand, You ride for the Man loyalty. Charlie was a true hombre!
He is survived by his wife Rose Hill of Kingsland, daughter Sandy (Victor) Votion, sons Jimmy (Linda) Hill of Kingsland, Chris Akins of Colorado, grandson Michael Ray (Jill) Hill of Key West, Fla., granddaughters Calle Ray Hill of Kingsland, Scarlet Akins of Colorado, great-granddaughter Jacey Hill, brother Cliffton (Katie) Hill of Houston and niece Alison (Shawn) Smith
While we mourn our loss here on Earth, we find solace in the knowledge that heaven has a very special addition- Charlie Hill
Charlie’s family would like to extend thanks, appreciation and love to Charlie’s many special friends for their support, concerns, assistance, love and prayers during Charlie’s illness. You were more help and comfort to us than you will ever know - God bless you and yours.
A celebration of life services will be held at the Hill Country Fellowship Church 200 Houston Clinton Dr., Burnet on Saturday, April 6 at 10 a.m. with Rev. Rodney McGee officiating. An online guest register may be signed at www.PutnamCares.com.
