Jariene moved to Velasco, Texas in 1950 with her family. As a successful businesswoman, she owned and operated her own business, Hair Affair in Lake Jackson. Texas, where she served the needs of others and made them feel special for 35 years (1977 to 2012). Three out of four granddaughters followed in her footsteps and became hairstylists as well. She was a positive influence in the lives of many and passed on a strong work ethic to her children and grandchildren.
Jariene "Jay” will always be remembered as a vibrant soul, full of energy with a big loving heart for others. She lived life to the fullest and loved to travel. Always a gracious hostess, she loved to throw parties and serve homemade dishes that people always remembered. After moving to Burnet in 2004, she became an active member of Hill Country Fellowship and will be missed by her church family that she loved dearly. She also attended Family Life Church in Lake Jackson.
Jariene was preceded in death by her parents, Honey & Joey Sorrell. She is survived by her husband, Ken Smith of Burnet; her son Dean Spillers of Angleton, Texas and her daughter Tessie Seegers of Austin and daughter-in-love Janet Spillers of Lake Jackson. She was known as Momma Rene by four beautiful granddaughters that she adored, Andrea Marks of Lynchburg, Va., Aimee Spillers of Lake Jackson, and Lauren and Laken Seegers of Austin. She will also be missed by her siblings Joe Lewis Sorrell, Jr. of Freeport, Jan Campbell of Lake Jackson and Judy Gillespie of Brazoria, Texas.
Memorial services will be held Sat, April 20th 1 p.m. at Hill Country Fellowship, 200 Houston Clinton Dr., Burnet, 512.756.8796.
All Faiths Funeral Home in Austin handled the arrangements.
