Forever in our hearts, has never felt more real. Painful, joyful such a juxtaposition. We know one thing for sure, he will be sadly and sorely missed by all who knew and loved him. But we carry on and choose to remember and celebrate his lively and colorful 74 years of life lived.
Mother and father, Delmoine and Reo, uncle-buddy Jim, and too many good friends who went before him are celebrating, having a good laugh and, most likely, a cold Bud Light today. Sharing stories (mostly fish tales), reminiscing of good times had hunting, fishing, golfing, Jayhawk Basketball and how Mac Brown should be fired.
His belief, "work hard, play harder” he did. With Helen, his wife of 55 years they built their own business, Modern Methods Lab in Wichita, Kansas, while managing to feed, love and care for three babies. Work hard, don’t judge, be kind, be generous, be happy, be devoted to family and friends and life will be good. Life 101, simple really.
Built many good memories in Kansas and continued into retirement in Horseshoe Bay, where he loved golfing with buddies. He was especially fond of that 19th hole (aka) Hole in One, TT’s, ‘The Office’ where he could be found nightly.
With a sparkle in his eye, ornery grin on face, Bud Light in hand solved all the world’s problems with his "Co-Workers.” Loved cooking, PGA Golf, old westerns, ‘The Duke’, home improvement projects, his Monday morning phone chats with: Uncle Jack, Pal Gurney, Pal Rob and getting briefed on KU Basketball Stats from Tommy. As his family and good friend’s know ‘they’ are the only thing that had any value or worth to him.
He lived and loved fully and will be sincerely and deeply missed by us he left behind:
Wife Helen, son Rick (Dana), daughter’s Jill and Sandie, grandchildren Kate (Brett), Tyler, Harper and Logan and brother Don, to name a few.
Rock-Chalk-Jayhawk, Go Dad "Billy” we love you!
A memorial will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 9 at Downey Lahey Mortuary in Wichita, Kan.
A Celebration of Life (Party) will be held at The Hole In One in Horseshoe Bay, TX on Saturday, Nov. 30th at 5 p.m.. The family invites all to come by for food, drink and a laugh on Billy’s behalf.
