Dawgs knock-off Panthers, 44-36

The Bulldogs pulled off a huge win over Liberty Hill on Friday night and greatly improved their chances for a playoff spot after defeating the Panthers, 44-36 at Bulldog Stadium. Burnet threw an interception on their first drive of the night and three plays later Liberty Hill cashed it in for a score, 7-0.

Freshman boys fall 13-8 to Gatesville

Burnet’s freshman Bulldogs fell short to the Gatesville Hornets on the road last Thursday, 13-8. In the first quarter the Dawgs moved the ball inside the 5-yard line but was unable to score. Gatesville put the game’s first points on the board in the second quarter with an 85-yard rushing touchdown and the 7-0 score remained on the board until the fourth quarter.

With less than two minutes left to play Burnet QB Austin Moore found Joel Johnson for an 8-yard score. Burnet was able to take the lead with a successful two-point conversion from Moore to Darius Johnson, 8-7.

Gatesville drove the length of their home field in less than one minute and scored the game winning touchdown as time ran out, 13-8.

Burnet’s defense played great and was led by Johnson. Offensive standouts included Johnson, Brock Foster, and Moore.

Seventh-grade Pups defeat Gatesville

Seventh-grade Green

The seventh-grade Green Team traveled to Gatesville to take on the Hornets Thursday, Oct 18. After a very fast game due to a running clock, Burnet pulled away with a 8-0 victory. Highlights of the game included Quentin Beutow and Zach Miller doing a great job running the ball. Both backs had a couple of long runs to help the offense move the chains in crucial moments of the game. Beutow had one rushing TD.
From the wide receiver positions Noe Martinez had a couple great runs, two of which came for big first downs. Tanner Abbot had a couple catches for 11-yards. Ty Riley had a couple great catches, one of which was for a two-point conversion score, and Kody Beall had a great run on a reverse at the end of the game.
The offensive line had one of their best games of the season against the Hornets. It was a great job by Colby Rogers, Conner Blake, Rajiv Patel, Levi Patterson, and Jalen Huggins to allow the Bullpups to move down the field. QB's- Reid Burton and Colton Dudley did a very good job on leading the offense down the field.

Defense- For only being on the field for two drives, the Bullpups held their own by allowing zero points in the game. It was a great job and great effort by the entire defense. They left it all on the field and did everything they needed to do to keep the Bullpups in the game. The Green team is now 3-1 and 1-1 in district.
Seventh-grade White
The Burnet seventh-grade White Team was involved in a very exciting back and forth football game against Gatesville on Thursday and in the end they were able to hold off the Gatesville team with a 41-34 victory. The offensive line which included; Ellett Vann, Frankie Gutierrez, Caden Floyd, Dillon Hinds, and Charles Guthrie had a great game and gave Tyler Torres and Ian Carter the opportunity to run wild. Torres ended up with 130-yards rushing and two TD's. His two rushing TD's came on runs of 30 and 65-yards. Torres also had a 65-yard TD reception thrown by Reid Dalrymple. Ian Carter ended the game with 203-yards rushing and three TD's. Carter's three rushing TD's came on runs of 63, 68, and 15-yards.

Reid Dalrymple ended up having 80 -yards passing with the one long TD pass to Torres. Receivers Clayton Hinckley, Cole Younger and Alex Thomas also had a very good game blocking on the outside.

The Burnet defense had some problems stopping the big plays but they did what they needed to do to get a big turnover at the end of the game to solidify a big win. The defense was backed by great play from both inside linebackers Caden Floyd and Spencer Still. Floyd ended the game with eight tackles, two which were for a loss. Still had seven tackles, one for a loss and a fumble recovery at the end of the game which he returned for 25-yards and was tackled at the Gatesville 10-yard line. The white team's record is now 2-2 and 1-1 in district.

Both teams will play at home on Thursday against Liberty Hill.

Dawgs fall to 0-2 in 25-3A

Burnet’s Bulldogs faced off with a very tough undefeated Gatesville Hornets team on Friday night and fell to 0-2 in District 8-3A with a 44-19 loss.

Faith Academy puts itself in driver's seat

Faith Academy rolled to a big first half lead and beat the Texas School for the Deaf, 33-12, Friday night in Marble Falls.

Dawgs turnover district opener

Burnet hosted Brownwood for the 8-3A District opener on Friday night at Bulldog Stadium. Despite a good defensive effort the Dawgs fell short to the Lions, 25-13 after two interceptions, three fumbles, and four turnovers on downs.

Burnet threw a pick on the fourth play of the game’s first drive but the defense quickly returned the ball to the Dawgs with a Cameron Chafin forced fumble that Tyler Krause recovered on the very next play.

Faith Academy stands tall again in shutout win

Faith Academy put together another big goal-line stand and its offense rolled in a 37-0 shut out over Holy Trinity of Temple Friday night in Marble Falls.
