Christmas Outreach barbecue heads Granite Shoals civic work Saturday

The Granite Shoals City Council Tuesday night heard plans for a day of civic activities with a centerpiece a barbecue fundraiser sponsored by the Granite Shoals Police Officers Association.
From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. barbecued brisket, sausage and the trimmings will be sold by the GSPOA at the city fire hall on RR 1431. Police Chief J.P. Wilson said all proceeds would go directly to benefit the Granite Shoals Christmas Outreach program to provide Christmas gifts and holiday dinners for needy families.
Meanwhile, beginning at 7 a.m. volunteers will be installing a new roof on the pavilion at Park 6 and others, beginning at noon, would be installing the annual Christmas light display at the northwest corner of Phillips Ranch and Barnett roads.

City Councilwoman Merilyn Nations, with the Beautification Advisory Group, noted that the Citywide Clean-up collection site on the campus of the city municipal building, 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., would be again be open only to those with proof of Granite Shoals residency. No construction waste, hazardous materials or masonry will be accepted, but passenger vehicle tires will be allowed for a charge of $2 each or $3 with rims attached.
