A jury of seven men and seven women including two alternates were selected from 113 potential jurors on Monday at the Llano County Courthouse for the trial of Bode Barker.
Barker, a local musician and former Castell fire chief, will stand trial on charges of aggravated sexual assault of a child, which prosecuting attorney Cheryl Nelson contends occurred on April 2, 1999, when Barker allegedly assaulted a child who was younger than 14 years old.
If convicted, Barker will face between five and 99 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000. His defense attorney is Eddie Shell.
Judge Guilford Jones said the trial may continue for the rest of the week. Opening statements will begin Tuesday morning at 8:30 a.m.
