With the approval of Marble Falls city council Monday, the Marble Falls Economic Development Corporation is closer to securing its acquisition of an old property for a new regional vocational school.

The EDC has agreed to pay Nature’s Finest LLC about $1.6 million for its old candle factory facility at 1707 Colt Circle in Marble Falls. The EDC is scheduled to officially take ownership of the building Dec. 18.

At a joint meeting with city officials Monday, EDC President Nona Fox said she’d like to see the technology-vocational school serve not only Marble Falls but students from Johnson City, Llano, Burnet and Lago Vista. However, much work remains to be done before the school is in full operation, which is expected in two to three years, she said.
