Martha Elizabeth Menees Kardon of Burnet, Texas, loving daughter, wife, mother, mother-in-law, and grandmother, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2025 at the age of 90. Martha is survived by her devoted husband, Merrill Kardon, and loving family, daughters Laura Hospitál and her husband Ditmar, and Rachele Kardon and her husband Michael, and granddaughters Hannah and Alexandra Hospitál. She is preceded in death by her parents Winfred and Inez Menees, and brother-in-law Myron Kardon.
Martha was born in Arkansas and graduated from the University of Arkansas before working in Connecticut then moving to Texas where she worked at Brooks Air Force Base and met Merrill. They married almost 60 years ago and had their daughters in Texas before moving to Ohio then Louisiana for work and to raise their family. Martha received her Master’s Degree in Psychology from the University of New Orleans and worked as a school psychologist in Jefferson Parish where her compassion and conscientiousness helped to improve educational opportunities and quality of life for many students.
Martha and Merrill retired to the Texas hill country where they designed and built their dream home on the lake where they had purchased land when they married. She followed her passions for literacy and gardening through volunteerism. Martha, always an avid reader, was a member of several book clubs and enjoyed discussing various literary genres with her friends. Martha is remembered for her kindness, intelligence, keen wit, selflessness and community building.
