City officials have filled a top administrative position with someone who is not only familiar with and dedicated to the community but a proven leader.
Keith McBurnett has been appointed as the new assistant city manager after almost a year of working in adminstration for the city of Burnet.
McBurnett served as the assistant to the city manager for the past nine months. He joined the muncipality shortly after his retirement from Burnet CISD in June 2024.
“With 30 years of experience in education, including 12 years as Superintendent of Burnet CISD, McBurnett has been a dedicated leader, always striving for continuous improvement,” said City Manager David Vaughn in a statement. “ He and his wife, Pat, moved to Burnet with their two sons in 2012, where both children later graduated from Burnet High School.
“Over the years, the McBurnetts have built strong connections in the community and continue to be actively involved through volunteer work.”
His tenure with the school district made him a sought-after potential leadership choice for the municipality.
“Throughout his tenure at Burnet CISD, Mc-Burnett was recognized for his exceptional leadership, strategic vision, and commitment to excellence,” Vaughn stated. “He brings that same dedication, organization, and high standards to his new role with the City.
“His experience and deep-rooted passion for the Burnet community make him the ideal choice for Assistant City Manager.”
Previously, Vaughn served as assistant city manager from 2005 to 2011 before being promoted to city manager. The city has not had an assistant city manager in the position since that time.
Vaughn added, “Please join us in congratulating Keith Mc-Burnett on his new role as he continues to serve the Burnet community with the same leadership and commitment that have defined his career.”
