Bluebonnet Fest braces for big crowds this weekend

The 42nd Annual Bluebonnet Festival this weekend, April 11-13 in Burnet, will welcome tens of thousands of visitors with several activities – all in honor of the state flower. There is no cost to visit the vendors, watch the gunfighter shoot-out, view the 1st Cavalry demonstration, or for any concerts other than the Saturday night concert.

The 42nd Annual Bluebonnet Festival this weekend, April 11-13 in Burnet, will welcome tens of thousands of visitors with several activities – all in honor of the state flower.

There is no cost to visit the vendors, watch the gunfighter shoot-out, view the 1st Cavalry demonstration, or for any concerts other than the Saturday night concert.

There is no cost to watch the Grand Parade, Pet Parade, Car Show, YMCA 5K/ 10K/ Senior 2K or Weiner Dog Race.

On Friday, enjoy the Luedecke Photography pet parade, kicking off with the lineup at 5:30 p.m. The April 12 Grand Parade is at noon on Saturday. Find the list of events at www. bluebonnetfestival.org.

Carnival vouchers are on sale at the Burnet Chamber of Commerce (101 N. Pierce St. Suite 1). Sales end April 11 at noon.

There is a fee for the carnival (Thursday-Sunday), breakfast at the Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast (Friday morning), Demolition Derby (Saturday), the Saturday night concert and YMCA Cornhole Tournament (Sunday).

Vouchers are $22 and can be redeemed for a wristband any day the carnival is running. At the gate wristbands are $27 for Thursday through Sunday and $32 for Friday and Saturday.

Race Registration (5K,10K, Senior 2K, Kids K) is open. Register at the YMCA of the Highland Lakes, 1601 S. Water in Burnet or online at www.bluebonnetfestival. org/register.
