Magpie Mercantile has been selected as the Bertram Chamber of Commerce Business of the Month for April.

Open since October of 2024, Magpie Mercantile brings healthy organic foods with limited ingredients to the community of Bertram.

You can find local organic produce, local grassfed beef, chicken and pork products, German bier and Texas wines on their shelves. With the various household goods and personal care items, plants and gardening supplies, t-shirts and more that are also available, the store really is a one-stop shop.

Magpie Mercantile continues to search for local foods, plants and artisan goods in hopes of finding something for everyone. The idea is to bring back the “mercantile” of days gone by that offers a bit of everything, sort of a one-stop-shop for your family and home.

Magpie Mercantile is planning to expand their shelving to offer more goods and specialty foods, along with more cold and frozen options. They are also looking for a sustainable seafood vendor and hope to have seafood offerings soon.

Festival Preps

During the upcoming Bertram Art, Herb & Wine Festival, Magpie Mercantile will be facilitating a sale on the wood carvings by local artist, David Runnels.

The business joined the Chamber soon after opening and credits the Bertram Chamber of Commerce with helping with their marketing efforts and offering opportunities for idea sharing and networking at their monthly luncheons.

The Bertram Library was the location of the 2nd Annual Jigsaw Puzzle Showdown. Six teams of two competed to see which team could complete the 500-piece puzzle the quickest. The winning team was Molly Maller and Breanna Maller, who finished the puzzle with a time of 42 minutes and 39 seconds. Stephanie and Devin Fitzsimmons placed second.

The Bertram Community Cupboard will open its doors at 112 Grande Street on Tuesday, April 15th from 2-6 pm. The cupboard will be open to assist families in the community with supplemental food items every Tuesday thereafter from 2-6 pm. Bertram Community Cupboard will be having a ribbon cutting for their Grand Opening on May 13th at 2:00 p.m. to celebrate the start of this new resource for Bertram.
