The Lady Dawg track teams traveled to Jarrell on Wednesday and Thursday of last week to compete in the UIL District 24-4A Meet. Teams hosted at the event included Burnet, Salado, Jarrell, Georgetown Gateway, Marble Falls, Lampasas, LH Legacy Ranch and Taylor.
The varsity girl’s division was won by Salado, followed by Jarrell in second place and Burnet in third. The JV girls were led by LH Legacy Ranch in first, followed by Burnet in second and Jarrell in third.
It was a successful meet for the Lady Dawgs who qualified numerous athletes for Area. Those varsity girls moving on to Area include Wrigley Mulhollan, Brooklynn Daniel, Asah Roy, Cali Eason, Brogan Fox, Brianne Smith, Adriana Briggs, Camryn Courtney, and Lacie Lewis.
At the JV level to Burnet athletes earned district championships. Payton Brandt placed first in the discus event with a throw of 77’. Hayden McCombs finished first in the long jump with a leap of 15’2.

Area qualifiers are back in Jarrell today, Wednesday, April 8, to compete for a spot at Regionals. The top four athletes from each event will advance. Teams competing at Area include Burnet, China Spring, Gatesville, Lorena, Robison, Waco Connally, Waco La Vega, Georgetown Gateway, Jarrell, Lampasas, LH Legacy Ranch, Marble Falls, Salado, and Taylor.
