Hunting Easter Eggs During this coming week there will be children searching for colored eggs in the traditional Easter egg hunts. In recent times it is more common for the eggs to be plastic with a toy or candy inside, rather than being hard-boiled.

How did the tradition of hunting eggs become a part of the Easter Celebration? It is believed that the first egg hunt began in Germany in the 16th Century. It seems that the German Christian reformer Martin Luther suggested that men hide eggs in the garden for women and children to find.

Migrants from Germany seemed to have brought the practice of hunting Easter eggs to America.
