Burnet County has posted help wanted signs for two key openings now within its electronic window.
During the April 22 meeting, the Burnet County Commissioners Court announced they’re trying to fill positions for county auditor and court administrative director.
Burnet County’s auditor recently accepted a position elsewhere.
Smith County 7th District Judge Kerry Russell administered the Smith County Auditor oath of office to former Burnet County auditor Karin Smith April 14, according to media reports.
Smith had served as Burnet County auditor for six years.
“The quality of her work was always impeccable,” County Judge Bryan Wilson told the Bulletin.
As per state law, both 33rd Judicial District Judge J. Allan Garrett and 424th Judicial District Judge Evan Stubbs will appoint a new county auditor at some future time.
Pending the appointment of a permanent county auditor, both judges appointed Kelley Glaeser as interim county auditor April 19.
Also, Burnet County Commissioners Court Administrator Director Stephanie McCormick plans to leave. Her last day is May 2.
Since 2018, McCormick served as the county judge and commissioner court’s primary communications manager, also as supervisor of applications, data and reports submitted by several county departments.
“She will be sorely missed by the entire county (including) officials, employees and the public,” Wilson said.
McCormick plans to remain in Burnet to work as a therapy technician for Texas Hill Country Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation.
“I am really excited,” she said.
McCormick began her county employee career in 1999 when she stared to work for retired County Clerk Janet Parker.
By 2006, former County Judge Donna Klaeger promoted McCormick to work as the county collections department deputy, and then, she became the collections supervisor upon the election of Betty Trapp as county treasurer.
Seven years ago, Mc-Cormick became the court administrator upon the retirement of Jeanne Emerson.
The court administrator position will remain open until it is filled, County Human Resources Director Shirley Bullard said.
Too, the county needs applicants for a string of other positions, including adult probation officer, assistant district attorney, corrections officer, field deputy, juvenile probation counselor, juvenile probation officer, misdemeanor public defender, one Precinct 2 Road and Bridge Tech, a sex offender supervision officer and positions for emergency and non-emergency telecommunication operations.
“It would be nice if we could get applications from all over Burnet County,” Wilson said.
Descriptions and applications for each one of the positions are listed at www.burnetcountytexas. org under the jobs postings tab.
