From extensions to protests, deadlines are approaching for the Burnet Central Appraisal District.
Property owners should have received their property tax notices within the last couple of weeks.
The deadline is May 15 for those property owners who were granted an extension to file Business Personal Property Renditions the deadline for filing that rendition.
Also, the May 15 deadline applies to most property owners to file a Protest of Appraised Value.
“If you received a Notice of Appraised Value, your protest deadline will be printed on your notice,” according to BCAD. “So check your notice to be sure of your deadline. If you were not sent a Notice of Appraised Value your deadline is this date.
Another deadline to keep in mind May 31: Property owners with delinquent taxes can avoid additional penalties and interest by making payment on, or before, this date.
For property owners with the Age 65 or Disabled Person’s Homestead Exemption, who have set up a 4 payment plan for their taxes, the third payment must be received by the CAD office, or be postmarked, by this date.
Whenever stated deadlines fall on a non-business day (holidays and weekends), the deadline will be extended to the next working day. Deadlines can be met by having the submission postmarked by the US Postal Service, or placed in our dropbox located at our Burnet office, at 223 S. Pierce St before mid-night of the deadline date. This also applies to payments. Payments can also be made electronically by phone or online. The date and time of the transaction will be treated as a “postmark”.
