Recently, the Central Texas Groundwater Conservation District (CTGCD) hired water law attorney Sarah Faust to facilitate special volunteer committee meetings to deliberate the potential establishment of a Northeast Burnet County Groundwater Management Zone.

During future weeks, the 11-member committee plans to meet as required to help board members decide if ongoing use of the Trinity Aquifer (the major source of groundwater for the Briggs-Oakalla area) must be monitored more thoroughly.

The committee plans to hold its first meeting May 22 at district headquarters in Burnet, 225 S. Pierce St. near the county courthouse, CTGCD General Manager Mitchell Sodek told The Highlander.
