From the beginning of this year, Burnet High School senior middle-distance runner Victor Aviles’ goals were to win three Class 4A State Championships this spring.

So when the meet happened May 1 at Mike Myers Stadium on the University at Austin campus, Aviles won two and finished the third race with a silver medal. For that effort, he was named the Class 4A Boys Athlete of the Meet.

“Victor received the most prestigious honor at the end of the track meet,” Bulldogs head coach Jordan Heusinkveld said. “This is awarded to the person that contributes the most amount of points to the team total at the end of the meet.”
