Burnet County commissioners May 13 approved a resolution to oppose the quarry development permit application Asphalt Inc. presented recently to the Lower Colorado River Authority.

State Representatives Ellen Troxclair (HD 19) and Terry Wilson (HD 20), local community groups and thousands of Burnet County residents have voiced much opposition to the quarry since last September.

In fact, earlier this week, the Texas Environmental Regulation committee voted unanimously to place HB 5151 on the state legislative session general calendar. The bill would ban aggregate operations within four miles of two state parks in Burnet County as well as a children’s camp on Lake LBJ.
