Guild Scholarships
The Highland Lakes Quilt Guild (HLQG) is accepting scholarships applications from adult women wishing to continue their degree or certification in their chosen field. These scholarships are not open to high school seniors. Application forms are available at the Highland Lakes Quilt Guild website. All applications need to be received by June 11, 2025. Oakalla Library
The Oakalla Library will be providing a summer reading program during the months of June and July. Also the following programs will continue. On Tuesdays, Story Time and Crafts for the younger group of children will meet at 4:30 p.m. and Teen Art Classes will be held at 6:30 p.m. The library is located at 28961 RM 963 in Oakalla.
Saving Water
Kelly Tarla, Burnet County Agri-Life extension agent will discuss ‘Native and Low Water Turf Options’ Thursday, May 15, and ‘Earthkind Principles: Mulching; Rainwater Collection; Irrigation Audits; and Raised Beds,’ Thursday, June 19. Both free programs will be held at 607 N. Vandeveer in Burnet from 2 to 3 p.m.
Farmers Market
Burnet Farmers & Crafts Market on the historic Burnet square is every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Vendor applications are available at www.burnetcounty-highlandlakesmaster-gardener. org. Interested vendors and food trucks can send emails to Jenny McCoy at [email protected].
School Luau
The End of the School Year Luau is Wednesday, May 21, on the lawn at Vaughan St.
Mercantile in Bertram with ice cream and drinks.Enjoy an afternoon of music, shopping. The day will end with a movie on the lawn at 7:30 p.m.
Bring your chairs and blankets for a showing of The Sandlot.
