It was all happening at the Highland Lakes Squadron hangar at the Burnet Municipal Airport May 8.

The Regents School of Austin brought their eighth-grade class out to experience a Hangar Dance as might have been held during the WWII era.

The eighth-grade class tours the Highland Lakes for a few days as part of the “end of year” (moving to junior high) celebration.

Stops include the Nimitz Museum in Fredericksburg, Enchanted Rock, a venture into a “speakeasy” venue and the Hangar Dance here in Burnet.

The youngsters get the opportunity to “strut their stuff” through their dancing (they can really shake a leg) and at the same time experience some of the feel of time in history when we were at war. Everyone is dressed in 1940s attire and military uniforms and danced to 1940s music provided by the Jazz Daddies from Austin.

The youngsters really have a great time and pick up a little history at the same time. A fun night was had by all.
