Lower Colorado River Authority officials recently approved a permit for Asphalt LLC to build an aggregate processing plant and quarry over more than 700 acres in Burnet County.
Despite a torrent of protest forwarded by many local elected officials and residents during the past nine months, LCRA officials issued its OK for the quarry through a statement they released June 18.
One leader of opposition to the quarry predicts determined protests will continue.
