Floodgate operations through the Independence Day weekend in the Highland Lakes moved downstream a torrent of stormwater caused by about 20 inches of rain in a two-day period.
“People need to use extreme caution under these conditions,” said John Hofmann, LCRA executive vice president of Water. “Flows in the lakes can be deceptively fast, and we want people to remain safe.
“Unless it’s an emergency, we are encouraging people to stay away from these three lakes for the immediate future.”
