On July 3, before the floods devastated the Highland Lakes region, Burnet VFW Post 6974 continued its long-standing support of the community by donating $1,000 to Ark of the Highland Lakes in Marble Falls to help fund their Summer Feeding Program. At the time, more than 90 local children faced food insecurity during the week while out of school, and the VFW stepped up to ensure these families received weekly deliveries of meals and healthy snacks.
Just days later, when the floods hit, Burnet VFW Post 6974 became a critical resource once again, this time named the official HUB for the Texas State VFW’s disaster response in the region. From supporting children during summer break to feeding displaced families in the aftermath of the flood, the VFW continues to serve the community in every way it can.
Lori Greco, a proud member of Post 6974, presented Angie Martinez, Hospitality Administrator at Ark of the Highland Lakes, with the donation check, demonstrating the VFW’s unwavering commitment to standing with neighbors in both calm and crisis.
