The Bertram and Burnet Chambers of Commerce hosted a lovely event this past Thursday.

The Women in Business Mixer was held at the Wagon Springs Wine Room in Burnet. There was live music, delicious food, and several vendors and informational tables on the patio.

Those in attendance had the opportunity to catch up with old friends, make some new ones, network their businesses, and several were lucky enough to win a fabulous door prize.

Julie Lott of Central Taxes Acupuncture and Wellness was on hand to share about a special foot soak and some of her other services that are available at her Bertram location.

Another Women in Business event is being planned for the fall season.

According to Sharon Schwartz, the first Clothing Swap was successful, but they still have lots of elementary-aged clothing and shoes left.

They have decided to have a second Clothing Giveaway on Monday, Aug. 12 from 2-4 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church of Bertram.

This is the same day as Bertram Elementary’s Meet the Teacher Night, so parents can stop by and shop before attending the event on campus. The clothing is all in great condition and absolutely free.

The Oatmeal Festival Pageant and barbecue is just around the corner.

Anyone interested in getting a form to register for the pageant can pick one up at Vaughan Street Mercantile, R Bank, or the Rustic Pearl Boutique.

The Oatmeal Festival is being carefully planned as the committee prepares for the event coming Sept. 28 to downtown Bertram.

There will be something for everyone, including vendor booths, kids games, a Fun Run, an oatmeal bake off, pet parade, barbecue, and a Grand Parade. Musical entertainers will be playing throughout the day, culminating in a Street Dance that evening. There will also be a softball tournament on August 17th. More information will be forthcoming on all of this and more.
