Tennis finishes rain-delayed matches

Callen Smith and his mixed doubles partner, Alex Burns, almost won their match against Little River Academy in matches that were moved to Aug. 25, because of bad weather Aug. 21 in District 25-44A play. Academy prevailed 19-0.

“Our mixed doubles had such a close match and did an outstanding job almost getting us a point,” head coach Jayci Craig said. “Lots of great effort made by Burnet. The Burnet tennis athletes never give up. Re- gardless of the score, they always give it their all.” The Bulldogs and Lady Dawgs are still in the mix for a playoff berth after Liberty Hill Legacy Ranch forfeited Aug. 28. Burnet is on a bye Thursday, Sept. 4, and welcomes Cameron Yoe Thursday, Sept. 11.
