At its Aug. 26 meeting, the Burnet City Council recognized City Manager David Vaughn for 25 years of dedicated service to the City of Burnet, honoring a career marked by steady advancement, leadership, and commitment to the community.

Vaughn began his journey with the city on June 6, 2000, when he was hired as a full-time administrative clerk in the Water and Sewer Department. It didn’t take long for his leadership and abilities to be noticed. Just a few months later, in September 2000, he transferred to the Administration Department, and by December of that same year, he was promoted to purchasing agent.

From there, his career continued to progress. In May 2002, David became the assistant finance director, a role he held for two and a half years before stepping into the director of Planning and Development position in October 2004. Only four months later, he was promoted again -- this time to assistant city manager and director of Planning and Development.
