Mamas, Papas, don’t let your babies drive golf carts, as Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson might have sung together. Really, it’s no joke.

Mamas, Papas, don’t let your babies drive golf carts, as Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson might have sung together.

Really, it’s no joke. During a town-hall style meeting July 30 at Delaware Golf Springs, Burnet Police Chief Brian Lee addressed an audience of more than 100 locals regarding recent reports of illegal golf cart transportation, particularly by juveniles.

He delivered one no-nonsense message. “We have received a lot of complaints, and we are going to enforce a no tolerance policy,” Lee said. “If you drive a golf cart on a public road, the vehicle must be licensed, and you must be a licensed driver.”
