Burnet County Republican Party leaders gathered the evening of Feb. 12 at Log Country Cove for its 2026 Reagan Dinner, celebrating The Golden Age.

The annual fundraiser blends tradition, recognition of service and remarks from statewide leaders.

Burnet County Republican Party Chairwoman Tammy Hallum opened the program with a welcome, setting a tone of gratitude and unity for the evening.

Author and pastor Jared Dodd then led the opening prayer. State Sen. Pete Flores (SD24) and House District 19 State Rep. Ellen Troxclair led attendees in the Pledge of Allegiance to the U.S. and Texas flags.

A highlight of the evening was the presentation of volunteer awards, recognizing individuals whose dedication strengthens the party throughout the year.

The final award of the evening, the Dave Kithil Award, was presented to for former Burnet County clerk Janet Parker.

In presenting the award, Hallum praised Parker’s consistent support of the local party, stating, “The very deserving recipient of the Dave Kithil award, Janet Parker, promoting the Burnet County Republican Party. She is always there to help whether it be the GOP picnic, luncheons, meetings, and especially with a successful Reagan Dinner. Thank you, Janet!”

The audience responded with warm applause in recognition of Parker’s long-standing contributions.

The program continued with remarks from Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Texas Jimmy Blacklock, the first guest speaker of the evening.

Fundraising efforts followed with Trey Pogue serving as auctioneer for a variety of donated items, adding energy and momentum to the night’s mission.

The evening concluded with featured guest speaker Steve Munisteri, senior advisor to Gov. Greg Abbott, who shared insights from his experience in Texas politics and public service.

Starting in March 2017, Munisteri served under President Donald J. Trump, when Munisteri was appointed as White House Deputy Assistant to the President and Principal Deputy Director of the Office of Public Liaison. He also served in the past as chairman of the Republican Party of Texas.

The 2026 Reagan Dinner underscored the Burnet County Republican Party’s emphasis on grassroots involvement, volunteer recognition and engagement with state leadership, while also serving as a reflection point looking ahead to the upcoming election cycle.
