It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beautiful mother, Dorothy “Kathy” Kathleen King, on August 27, 2024 after a rapid decline in health. She was 75 when she went to heaven. A devoted mother, Mam-maw, sister, and friend, Kathy spent her life nurturing those she loved. She resided in the beautiful Texas Hill Country, where she found immense joy in being outside, often starting her days with a cup of coffee on her patio and ending with a glass of wine watching the sun set.
Kathy’s unwavering love and dedication to her family were at the core of who she was. She is survived by her children: Mecca Robbins and husband Shawn, Amber Owen, Jared King and wife Felicia, and Kalli Ploch. Her legacy lives on through her beloved grandchildren: Cameron Robbins, Nic Robbins, Alex Robbins, Chance Robbins, Reese Robbins, Shelton King, Colton Owen, Nevaeh Owen, Michael King, Farrah Malone, Felicity King, Matthew Whitley, Justin King, and Jacob King, and her greatgrandchild, Kaiser King, all who brought her boundless joy and pride.
Kathy is also survived by her brother Gary Iwers and his wife Marsha, and her dear nieces Nikki Harvey and Danielle Whatley and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents Hans Iwers and Dorothy Iwers Rhodes who now welcome her home.
Known for her kindness and generosity, Kathy always gave herself to those around her. She loved spending time with her close friends, having people over, and showering them with hospitality. Kathy enjoyed travel; exploring the world with Gary and Marsha, her children, and friends...and always looked forward to the next trip.
Kathy’s warmth, strength, and enduring love for her family will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew her. In lieu of flowers, donations to mealsonwheelstexas.org can be made in Kathy’s name.
Kathy’s joy for life and love of others will never be forgotten. She touched the lives of many, and her memory will forever be cherished by those she loved.
