Bertram library visitor delights children
A huge crowd was present at the Bertram Library for The Singing Zoologist.

As a part of the popular Summer Program, Lucas Miller aka the Singing Zoologist, did what he does best, using music and humor to teach children about zoology. Lucas has been doing this for over 30 years, covering various scientific topics such as metamorphosis and food chains. There was a lot of laughter and singing during this program as the kids learned about the animal kingdom.

Globe Theatre Catch some live entertainment at The Globe Theatre on Saturday, July 25, with the return of Larry Gatlin. Tickets are on sale on the website. The Next Honky Tonk Wednesday will be July 1, featuring Josh Baca and the Hot Tamales. Honky Tonk Wednesdays are free to the public.

Chamber Luncheon R Bank manager Lori Ringstaff, along with Bertram Police Chief Jason Brantley and Officer Hunter McCoy gave a fraud presentation at this week’s Bertram Chamber luncheon. They covered the reasons why criminals target small businesses and the different types of scams that are currently being used. They shared the ways to protect your businesses from fraud and some common red flags to look for, such as strange texts or emails, being asked to buy gift cards or make cyber currency deposits and phone calls asking for personal information verification. They also gave information about what to do if you find yourself in a fraudulent situation.

America’s Birthday Bertram is only a little over two weeks away from the celebration of America’s 250th birthday. The 4th of July parade is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Vaughan Street. Parade entries are welcome, with no need to preregister. Entry staging will be 9 a.m. as follows: floats and vehicles at the corner of 243 and Fallen Oak, Equestrians near swimming pool at Panther Park, Bikes, scooters, and pedestrians at Presbyterian Church parking lot, and UTV, ATV or golf carts alongside Panther Park on Vaughan Street. Put on your red, white and blue and join the fun.
