Burnet’s fall golf athletes opened their season last week with a round of golf at Meadowlakes. Coach Doug Messer, who will be leading the girls this season said, “The weather was nice and the girls hit the ball really well in their first outing.”
Returning golfer, Avery Gowin earned the first place medalists award with a great round of 89. Her returning teammates, Cambria Neenan, was the tournament’s third place medalists with a score of 93.
“Both girls played well and showed a lot of promise for the season,” said Coach Messer.
The JV boys took five golfers to play in the Marble Falls JV Tournament at Hidden Falls in Meadowlakes last week. As a team Burnet finished third out of five. Dylan Courtney led the Bulldogs with a team best round of 89.
The varsity boys played at Mill Creek on Tuesday in Salado. We will update you on those results next week. The varsity boys and girls will play at Legends on Wednesday, Sept. 25.
The Burnet Fall Classic will be held at Delaware Springs on Tuesday, Oct. 8 for the girls and Tuesday, Oct. 15 for the boys. The season will wrap-up on Tuesday, Oct. 22 for the boys at Copperas Cove and Wednesday, Nov. 6 for the girls at Anderson. The spring season will start Feb. 13, 2025.
