Many of us have felt some stress and fatigue from time to time. A couple of free practical training sessions will be held in the next couple of weeks for any interested community members. Peace Christian Church at Mahomet will be holding these sessions.

The first one is Cumulative Stress Training.

It will offer information about some new skills to help lower your stress level. The time is Sunday, Sept. 22, 4 to 5:30 p.m.

The second one, Compassion Fatigue Training, on Sunday, Sept. 29, 4 to 5:30 p.m. The leader of the session asks “Do you feel tired from giving all you have to help your family, friends, coworkers, or others? Do you need to learn how to better take care of yourself?”

His workshop will provide ways to renew your kindness, energy, and ability to help others while taking care of yourself.

The leader of these sessions is Ron Mottern, PhD, LCDC, CH, State of Texas, Health and Human Services Disaster Behavioral Health Coordination.

Peace Christian Church at Mahomet is located at 10451 E. FM 243, between Bertram and Mahomet. All interested people are invited to these free sessions.

Pumpkin Project

On Monday, the 16th, Roberta Eacott, vice president of Briggs Baptist Church, reported the following: “At their monthly meeting at the … Fellowship Hall, members of the Redbud Oakalla Extension Education Club made over 60 fall pumpkins for delivery to the Oaks Nursing Center in Burnet.

“Hopefully, the fall pumpkin decorations and patriotic decorations for Veterans Day will bring a little cheer and joy to the residents.

“Debra Reavis and Molly Miller developed the idea and had members bring fabric and other items to make the decorations.”

Library Fish Fry

Oakalla Librarian Tricia Pratt reports the Fish Fry this past Saturday was a great success.

She wishes to thank everyone who turned out and is grateful for all the community support.
