Dr. Seuss was on the loose at the Bertram Library this past week.
Bertram Police Chief Dewayne Kyle was on hand to read a favorite Dr. Seuss book to the youngsters gathered for Preschool Story Time at the Bertram library.
A couple of officers from the Bertram Police Department accompanied him, and the children were delighted to have a story read to them by a chief in full uniform.
After story time, they were treated with the opportunity to go outside and explore chief’s vehicle. It was a memorable morning for many little ones in Bertram.
Open Mic Night
Gathering Grounds was the venue for Open Mic Night, which is a monthly gathering of local artists who share their skills.
There are poets, storytellers, musicians, comics, and more who perform for the crowd. This event is growing in popularity, and not only are new artists showing up to share their skills along with some who are frequent performers, but the crowd of spectators is becoming quite large.
Every month a particular artist is featured, and they share several pieces of work with the audience.
This month’s featured artist was Whitney Goble, who is also the founder of this event. Whitney shared numerous poems with the audience, which were well-written and thought evoking.
This event takes place the second Saturday of each month at 7 p.m. at Gathering Grounds Coffee Shop. All are welcome to sign up to share their craft or come and enjoy the talent.
