Cross Country team earns state honors

Five senior members of the BHS cross country team recently earned Academic All-State honors following another successful year. This award takes four years of hard work and dedication to sports and the classroom to be achieved. A student athlete must maintain a 92 or above for all four years while participating in sports to be consid-ered for the award. Other factors including class rank, GPA, and SAT/ACT scores are considered as well.

Five senior members of the BHS cross country team recently earned Academic All-State honors following another successful year. This award takes four years of hard work and dedication to sports and the classroom to be achieved. A student athlete must maintain a 92 or above for all four years while participating in sports to be consid-ered for the award. Other factors including class rank, GPA, and SAT/ACT scores are considered as well.

Burnet had three runners make the first team Academic All-State list. Those athletes include Victor Aviles, Adriana Briggs, and Jaylee Messer. Burnet senior Brooke Bowman was named to the second team Academic All-State list, and teammate Hannah Webster made the honorable mention list.

“Way to work hard in the classroom,” said Coach Kristi Jones following the announcement of the awards.
