The Burnet girls basketball program opened district play on Friday with a game on the road at Marble Falls. Two of the three Burnet teams earned wins in the opener.
Burnet’s varsity squad has been hard at work including time spent during the holidays at tough tournaments in preparation for what awaits in district. They are currently 10-13 on the year but those losses come with lessons learned that will serve them well in the games that count. Between Christmas and New Years, the varsity team played at the Leander Glenn Invite.
They lost to Klein, 48-31 before defeating Leander, 46-33. They fell from the tournament after back-to-back losses to Round Rock, 59-36 and Vandergrift, 58-39. It was tough competition that helped Burnet’s girls in numerous ways.
