David Lee Maynard age 88, formerly of Leander and Bertram passed away at his home in Briggs on December 22, 2024. He was born July 7, 1936, in Leander to Charlie Samuel Maynard and Edna Lee Malen.
David grew up in and around the Leander area and worked hard at many different jobs. Among the many things he did was working in the oil field, and with his brother in home construction. He worked 18 years for Travis County in the Road and Bridge Department and in other areas in all parts the County. David enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and traveling.
David is survived by his wife of 56 years Virginia, sons Jason Maynard and wife Melissa, David Maynard and wife Teri, Kenneth Maynard and wife Deborah, Steven Wahrmund and wife Julie and by daughters Debbie Evers and husband Randy and Brenda Dunn and husband Clayton.
Surviving grandsons are Dustin, Jace and Justin Maynard, Greg Evers, Joshua Wahrmund, Cody and Kyle Dunn, Robert Lavery Jr. and Anthony and Alex Ramirez. David’s granddaughters are Christy Evers, Courtney Dunn, Emily Wahrmund, Lynn Rossel, and Jennifer Barajos. David also has 8 great grandchildren and numerous great-great grandchildren.
Also surviving are David’s brothers Wayne Maynard and wife Wanda, Tommy Maynard and wife Bessie and David’s sisters Dolly Mouser and Evelyn Peters.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Karen Maynard, brothers Walter Maynard, Johnny Maynard, Dewayne Dougherty and sisters Louella Donahue, Annie Dyer, and Helen Robinson.
The visitation for family and friends will be held Monday, December 30 from 5-7 pm at the Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home in Burnet. The graveside service and burial for David will take place at 1 pm Tuesday, December 31 at Bagdad cemetery in Leander.
Those named as pallbearers were Dustin Maynard, Jace Maynard, Justin Maynard, Greg Evers and Cody Dunn.
