It was a great week for the varsity Bulldog basketball team who earned two big district wins which greatly improved their standings. The Bulldogs opened play with a Tuesday night home victory over Salado and backed that up with a win over the Taylor Ducks on Friday on the road.
The Dawgs were simply impressive in the first quarter of play versus the visiting Salado Eagles on Tuesday. Burnet added up 20 points in the first eight minutes taking a 20-10 lead. Junior Jaxon Sparks contributed nine of those going two for two at the line, while hitting a pair of two point buckets and one triple.
Burnet doubled up Salado in the second 14-7 to take a big 34-17 lead at the break.
