Evelyn Curling Baker passed away January 23, 2025 Evelyn was born in Somerville, Texas on December 9, 1928 to Elmer and Helen Schoppe-Curling. She resided in Somerville until 1939 when her family moved to Bryan Texas where she attended Bryan Public schools and graduated from Stephen F. Austin High school in 1946. She was a proud member of the accapella choir.

On June 1, 1946 she married Lawrence E. Baker Jr. of Austin, Texas. After this happy union, she was a housewife and mother, enjoying every precious moment. She taught piano lessons in Austin for 27 years and had many happy memories of her beloved students.

She loved golfing and was a charter member of Delaware Springs Ladies Golf Association in Burnet, Texas. She lived in Delaware Springs, he home adjacent to the 10th green.

She was a dedicated volunteer at the Burnet Library Thrift store.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Helen Curling, her husband Lawrence , and son Michael Lawrence Baker.

She is survived by sons, Steve and wife Martha, Tim and wife Amy, 6 grandchildren, their spouses, and 13 great-grandchildren .

Visitation will be held at Clements Wilcox Funeral Home, 306 East Polk Street, Burnet, Texas on January 30, 2025, 5:00-8:00 PM. Funeral service will be at the same location, January 31, 2025 at 11:00 AM with burial following at Lakeland Hills Memorial Park, 4219 Park Road 4 South, Burnet , Texas.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Humane Society/ animal shelter of your choice or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
