Emily Ann (Morris) Klutts passed away at her home in Bertram on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at the age of 46. Emily was born on July 6, 1978 in Georgetown, Texas, to Bonnie and W.C. “Sonny” Morris, Jr.

Emily grew up in Bertram and graduated from Burnet High School in 1996. While in high school, she was a dedicated member of the Burnet High School Band. She was a talented trumpet player throughout her 4 years of high school and served as the drum major for the marching band her senior year. That same year she was selected to represent the BHS band as the Burnet High School Band Sweetheart.

After high school, she earned her bachelor’s degree from Tarleton State University. Upon graduation, she took a position with the State of Texas, first at Child Protective Services and later with Texas Workforce Commission. In total, she gave 23 years of service to the State of Texas between her 2 roles. Her coworkers have described her as “a joy to work with” and “always willing to help with anything.”

For a time, Emily lived in Hutto with her son Conner. After the passing of her dad in 2021, Emily made the decision for her and Conner to return to her hometown and share her childhood home with her mom. Together, Emily and her mom completed many home improvement projects. Many days after work, she and her german shepherd, Lola, would jump on their ATV and tour the pastures around their home. She loved catching the beautiful country sunsets and sunrises. On game days, you could find her in the stands cheering on her nephews while they played ball.

She accepted Jesus as her personal savior and was baptized into Christ during her childhood. She attended many church functions, participated in devotionals, taught VBS with her mother for many years, and went on numerous mission trips with her youth group. She continued to be a follower of Christ through her adult life and knowing that she is with The Father in her eternal home brings much comfort to her family.

Emily is preceded in death by her dad, W.C. “Sonny” Morris, Jr.; her brother, Jason Lee Morris; her grandparents Lavena & J.D. Brooks and Joyce & Carl Morris and her aunts Linda Burton and June Kuepers.

She is survived by her loving son Conner Klutts of Liberty Hill; mother Bonnie Morris of Bertram; sister Amy Murray and husband Grant of Burnet and nephews Rhett & Brooks; brother Justin Morris and wife Kayla of Idaho and nephews Justin & Jedidiah and nieces Liberty & Sunny; brother Jeffrey Morris and wife Amy of Burnet and nephews Mason (great niece Alaia) & Samuel, Evan Lampe and niece Taryn Lampe; uncles Glen Brooks of Bertram and Ronnie Brooks and wife Debbie of Bertram; aunts Edell Dodd and Patsy Collins of Burnet, Carla Morris and Cynthia McPherson of Kingsland. Emily also leaves to cherish her memory, many cousins, friends and family.

Although Emily has left this life, she leaves behind a legacy of warmth and kindness, a shining light to all those that knew her. She was always seen wearing a contagious smile and had a laugh that was infectious. Rest easy precious Emily. You are loved beyond measure and you will be deeply missed.

In honor of Emily, a Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2025 at 11 a.m. at the Bertram Church of Christ in Bertram, Texas.
