The Lady Bulldog basketball teams had two games last week, the first a home game versus Taylor and the second a game on the road at Jarrell. Both extremely important games for the varsity ladies as the second round of district draws to a close. Burnet’s varsity earned the win over Taylor but unfortunately fell short in Jarrell on Friday. The loss to the Lady Cougars kept Burnet from owning an outright district championship. With last night’s games pending Jarrell was in the top spot at 8-1, followed by Burnet at 7-2 with one loss to Jarrell and one loss to Salado.
The Lady Dawgs most likely finished second in 24-4A but will be the No. 1 seed in big school representation moving forward into the postseason. Taylor will join them in big school play as the No. 2 seed from our district.
Bi-district action will feature our district, 24-4A, versus District 23-4A. Burnet’s first opponent looks to be China Spring while Taylor will match-up with La Vega’s defending state champion team.
