Burnet election field features seven hopefuls

The city of Burnet will hold a general election May 3 for one mayor and three council members. City Secretary Maria Gonzalez reports seven candidates have filed for a place on the spring ballot.

The city of Burnet will hold a general election May 3 for one mayor and three council members.

City Secretary Maria Gonzalez reports seven candidates have filed for a place on the spring ballot.

For mayor, the incumbent Gary Wideman has filed along with challengers Anthony Francisco and Cliff Hirneisen.

Candidates for three city council seats include incumbents Tres Clinton, Ricky Langley, Joyce Laudenschlager, also Dennis Langley who is bidding for a return the council.

The last day to register to vote is April 3. The last day to apply for a ballot by mail (received not postmarked) in English or Spanish is April 22.

Early voting begins April 22. The last day of early voting is April 29.

The last day to receive a ballot by mail is 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. May 3 (Election Day) if the carrier envelope is not postmarked or 5 p.m. May 5 (next business day after Election Day) if the carrier envelope is postmarked by 7 p.m. at the location of the election on Election Day, unless military or overseas voter deadlines apply.
