Jane Harris Kenyon

Jane Wright Harris Kenyon, 75 of Buchanan Dam died Aug. 18, 2014. She was born Jan. 1, 1939, in Nix, Texas, to Charles Otis Wright and Mildred Christine Baker Wright. She attended the Nix School House and later Lampasas High School where she graduated in 1957. She married Gene Harris of Lometa in 1956 and they raised three daughters in Austin and Nix. He preceded her in death. For many years, Kenyon had an in-home daycare center and loved being an important part of the lives of many children. On Valentine’s Day 1986, she married Jack Kenyon. He also preceded her in death. Ranching, gardening, traveling, and playing with her grandchildren were just a few of her favorite things. She loved life on Lake Buchanan, The Mason Ranch, The Sand Hills Ranch, Nix, and the Sulphur Springs on the Colorado River. Kenyon was one of the first ranchers to introduce registered Dorper Sheep into our area and she also raised registered Longhorns and most recently registered Black Angus. She never met a stranger and opened her heart and home to many. She always had a helping hand a smile on her face. She was called “Mom” and loved by many. She is survived by her three daughters and sons-in-law: Ronnie and Regina Harris Brown of Naruna, Texas, Randy and Rhonda Harris Blanton of Abilene, Texas, and Martin and Rachel Harris Henry of Lake Buchanan, Texas; a son and daughter-in-law, Shane and Kristi Green; sisters, Charlene Wright Slusser of Burnet and Neil and Ginger Wright Whitsell of Austin, Texas, and a sister-in-law, Lois Bradley Wright of Lake Buchanan; She is also survived by: grandchildren, Rowdy and Lacey Brown of Uvalde, Texas, Ryder Brown of College Station, Texas, Roper Brown and Renee Walker of San Antonio, Texas, Matt and Katelyn Blanton of Devine, Texas, Casey Blanton of Devine, Texas, and Hayden Jack and Hannah Jane Henry of Lake Buchanan, Texas. Also surviving Kenyon are her great-grandchildren Emeri, Brynlee, and soon-to-be-baby sister Stella Brown, and Skylar and Presley Blanton. She is also survived by numerous cousins and friends and by chosen brothers and best friends Nolan Green and Randolph Scott. She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, sisters Judy Wright Queen and Mary Wright Woodward and a brother, Jimmy “Big Jim” Wright. Visitation for family and friends was held Friday Aug. 22, 2014, from 6-8 p.m. at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home in Burnet. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lampasas Animal Shelter or her memory may be honored by sharing a random act of kindness.
