Joe Paul Escamilla

Joe Paul “Bo” Escamilla, 60, of Burnet passed away Feb. 17, 2015. He was born June 12, 1954, in Bertram, Texas, to Felix and Guadalupe Escamilla. He is survived by: daughters and a son-in-law, Brittani Escamilla, Amy Escamilla, Felice and Bryan Bennight and Emily Escamilla; son, Joseph Escamilla; grandchildren, Cade Escamilla, Avery Escamilla, Kaylee Bennight, Abby Bennight, Adisyn Robles and Elle Robles; siblings, Julian and Connie Escamilla, Addie and Fish Zinser, Mark and Virgie Escamilla, Felix Escamilla and Janie Pesina and spouse, Jessie, and numerous nieces and nephews. Bo is preceded in death by: his parents: a niece, Patty Escamilla, and nephew, Jason Rojas. Bo went to Burnet High School, played all sports and was kicker and quarterback for varsity football, as well as shortstop for the varsity baseball team for four years. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1972 and was a Chief Petty Officer in San Diego, California, before being transferred to the naval base in Beeville, Texas, where he worked as an aviation electrician until 1976 and then the U.S. Navy Reserve for two years. After the service, Bo attended St. Edwards University in Austin where he played with the baseball team. Bo was a fun-loving man who could light up a room with his smile. He loved music, dancing and was known to be the best dancer at the Escamilla Family reunions. He loved all sports and earned a MVP title for a state softball tournament. He loved his Texas Longhorns and Dallas Cowboys. He loved the outdoors and went camping any chance he got. Bo was a family man, a hard worker and loved supervising the crews in his Stock Fence Building Company. Bo was the life of any party he attended and was loved by so many..his children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a score of extended family and friends. He touched so many hearts and blessed us all with memories to last us a lifetime. Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m.,with Rosary at 7 p.m., on Thursday Feb. 19, 2015, at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home in Burnet. A funeral service was held at 10 a.m. on Friday Feb. 20, 2015, at Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church in Burnet. Pallbearers were: Mark Escamilla, Aaron Escamilla, Tony Longoria, Patrick Escamilla, Gabriel Pesina, Jeff Rojas, Justin Rojas and Roland Ramirez. Honorary pallbearers were: Joseph Escamilla, Matt Zinser, Felipe Zinser, David Rojas, Randall Huggins, Caleb Rojas and Jonathan Martinez. Interment to follow at Post Mountain Cemetery.
