Tough loss for Lady Dawgs

by Wayne Craig

The Burnet varsity softball team made the trip to Elgin last Tuesday and found a very good Lady Wildcat team waiting. Burnet posted a double and five singles in the game but could not put hits together to score runs and fell short in the low-scoring contest, 2-0.

Elgin had some success at the bat with eight hits in the game and one run scored in third and another in the sixth.

Makenzie Carpenter hit Burnet’s lone double, while singles were recorded by Lexey Parker, Marissa Escamilla, Alex Barry, and Ashley Hallmark with two.

It was a battle of two very good pitchers with Carpenter striking out seven Wildcats and Burnet suffering nine strikeouts.
