BY CHRISTI BERTELSON/BURNET BULLETIN

Burnet County Sherriff’s Office (BCSO) will host National Prescription Take-Back Day, April 30 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on the Burnet County Courthouse Square.

Burnet County residents are asked to empty medicine cabinets, bedside tables, and kitchen drawers of unwanted medicine, unused, and expired prescription drugs. The intent is to round up and dispose safely unused and unwanted over-the-counter and prescription drugs.

Anything, from a deceased loved ones old medication to needles to just some to unused cough syrup, may be dropped off, no questions asked, according to the BCSO.

A trailer in front of the courthouse on Jackson Street will have sharps containers and waste containers to take any medication dropped off.

The National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day aims to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposal, while also educating the general public about the potential for abuse of these medications.
