BY WAYNE CRAIG/BURNET BULLETIN

The Lady Dawgs seem to be firing on all cylinders and opened district play with three-straight victories last week. They defeated Lampasas on Monday, 6-5; Llano on Tuesday, 5-0; and Taylor on Friday, 19-0.

The most exciting contest no doubt was the opener on Monday.

In the top of the third Lampasas sent two two-run homeruns over the fence which quickly increased their 1-0 lead to 5-0 which is where it stayed through three and a half innings of play.

Burnet began to battle back scoring four in the bottom of the fourth. A two-run homerun by Marissa Escamilla, a RBI double by Makenna Delill, and a RBI double by Jill Rosow pulled Burnet to within one at 5-4.

The Lady Dawgs tied things up at 5-5 in the bottom of the seventh to force an eighth inning.

After holding Lampasas scoreless in the top of the eighth Ashley Hallmark doubled in the bottom of the inning scoring Rosow for the Lady Dawg win.

Burnet hit an impressive six doubles in the game, those were provided by Vanessa Escamilla, Makenzie Carpenter, Rosow, Hallmark, Delill, and M. Escamilla.

M. Escamilla also hit a homerun in the game. She led in the RBI department with three total.

Carpenter pitched a complete game eight innings. She allowed five hits, five runs, three earned runs, three walks, and 17 strikeouts.
