Burkhart named new HS Principal

The Burnet Consolidated Independent School District (BCISD) Board of Trustees approved the recommendation of the new principal for Burnet High School at the March 28 board meeting.

Casey Burkhart, who has been the assistant principal for Burnet High School since 2012, will begin his new role on July 1. He will replace Mark Kincaid, who will retire after four years as principal.

"I feel very honored to be named the next principal of Burnet High School,” said Burkhart. “My mission will be to build on the great foundation and strong academic programs that Mark put in place for educational excellence while keeping a strong focus on fostering a climate of Spirit, Pride and Honor. I look forward to this challenge as I work together with our outstanding staff to ensure all students achieve their highest potential.”

Burkhart is completing his eleventh year in education.

He began his career as a middle school coach and math teacher and has served as a high school vice principal and a secondary principal before joining Burnet CISD.

Burkhart holds a master's of educational leadership degree from Sul Ross State University.

"Casey will be an outstanding principal," said Keith McBurnett, Burnet CISD Superintendent of schools. "He has taken on a variety of leadership roles while serving as assistant principal, he possesses strong character and integrity and has a clear, collaborative vision for Burnet High School.”
