Ruby Lura Phenix Mohan died peacefully on Thursday, June 9, 2016 at the age of 89 surrounded by family and friends.

Ruby was born on Oct. 7, 1926 in Fort Worth to Herbert Phenix and Margaret Kane.

She married Bernard “Bernie” John Mohan on Aug. 4, 1945 after meeting each other at a USO dance during World War II.  

The couple lived all over the United States and Europe while Bernie served in the US Air Force. Over the years, Ruby and Bernie welcomed four children into their lives.

Her children and grandchildren remember her as a talented seamstress, an amazing baker and cook, a steadfast volunteer, and a woman dedicated to her Catholic faith.

In her youth, she enjoyed fishing and hunting, while later in life, she enjoyed baking with her family, gardening, volunteering at church, and watching the Cowboys, Spurs, and Rangers.

She was a generous individual who loved her family, her friends, and her church.

She was an active and dedicated member of the Altar Society at Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church in Burnet.

Ruby is survived by her children, Bernard John Mohan, Jr. and wife Donna of Venice, Florida; Timothy Mohan and wife Karen of Burnet; Kathleen Palmour and husband Stephen of Burnet; and son-in-law Steven Ham of Burnet.

She is also survived by grandchildren Nathan Mohan and wife Jan of Durango, Colorado; Joshua Ham and wife Renee of Killeen; Audrey Mohan and husband Tyler Cunningham of Palmer Lake, Colorado; Lindsey Hawkins and husband John of Burnet; Andrew Ham of Burnet; Thomas Ham and wife Chelsi of Katy; Lauren Palmour of Austin; Camille Palmour of Austin; Whitney Palmour of San Marcos; and Andrea Palmour of Burnet.

 She is survived by five great grandsons: John Robert Ham, Ethan Cunningham, Daniel Hawkins, Charlie Hawkins, and Conner Cunningham.

 She is preceded in death by her parents Herbert and Margaret; her husband Bernie; her siblings Margie, George, and Erwin; her daughter Theresa Ham of Burnet, and her grandson, Benjamin Ham of Smithwick.

A funeral was held on June 14, 2016 at Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church in Burnet.
