It’s been a fast a furious start for the varsity Lady Bulldog volleyball team. Before school even started the girls had tallied two scrimmage tournaments, four games, and two big tournament weekends at Wimberley and Glen Rose.

Last week the girls played in two games, both on the road. Tuesday they traveled to Ingram and on Friday they were back on the road to face Waco University.

It was the third meeting in the young season between Burnet and Ingram. The two played twice during the TexFest tournament. They split those early tournament games so this was like a tie-breaker.

The first set ended in Ingram’s favor, 25-19; but Burnet battled back and took the next three sets 25-18, 25-13, and 25-11 to win the best of five series.

Marissa Escamilla led the team in kills and digs. She totaled 15 kills and 21 digs.

Burnet setter Alex Barry finished the match with 13 assists.

Kaygen Floyd did a nice job at the net with three blocks for her team.

On Friday Burnet did not fare so well. University was a tough team and the Lady Dawgs lost the match in three sets, 25-14, 25-17, 25-10.

Libero Lexey Parker collected 28 digs in the match.

Summir Hill had two aces for the Lady Dawgs.

Barry put up 15 assists, Escamilla finished with 15 kills, and Floyd added two more blocks to her stat total.

The Lady Dawgs played their final non-district home game last night hosting Harper. They will be on the road Friday at Rockdale. Next Tuesday they will play in Jarrell and next Friday, Sept. 9 they will travel to Smithville.

Burnet’s first three district games will be played at Bulldog Gym. Liberty Hill comes to town on Tuesday, Sept. 13, Taylor on Friday, Sept. 16, and Salado Tuesday, Sept. 20.
