Bluegrass Festival tuning up

Burnet residents, tune up your bowstrings for the 2016 Bluegrass Festival on Saturday, Sept. 17 in Haley Nelson Park!

The festival will take place in the park at the amphitheater from 1 - 9 p.m. and will feature the band Wood & Wire Gates will open at noon and entertainment will begin at 1 p.m. While the event will not include a Fiddler's Fest this year, event organizers assure that a top-notch line-up of renown bluegrass bands will provide hours of fun.

“Our headliner Wood & Wire is one of the top growing acts across the nation for bluegrass music right now,” said Damon Beierle, owner of Double Eagle Entertainment, one of the sponsors of the event.

The line-up Bluegrass style entertainment includes:

  • The Showmen Bluegrass Band Extraordinaire at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.

  • Sieker Band at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.

  • Southern Anthem at 5:30 p.m.

  • Wood & Wire from 7:30 – 9 p.m.

Arts and crafts vendors will be on site as well as The Baconette mobile restaurant serving food. Organizers are currently organizing a washer tournament, Beierle said.

The park is located at 301 Garden Trails (Texas 29 west) in Burnet. Admission is free, and guests may bring coolers, blankets, long chairs, and dogs, provided that pets are on a leash at all times.
